The Symbian technologies were officially introduced to universities and companies in China by Nokia Research Center (China) in 2004. After that, the Lab of Distributed and Mobile Computing in Beihang University, or LDMC, got involved in developing Symbian-based software and offering training courses to both students and companies.

There are currently more than 10 graduates and two teachers with more than three-year Symbian training and development experiences working in LDMC. They have developed more than 10 applications based on Series 60 and UIQ, such as Video Surveillance, Card Analyzer, etc. Meanwhile, LDMC also associates with NRC and CCID to provide high quality society oriented training courses.
